Austin Packers boys’ soccer blanks Rochester Mayo 3-0

The Austin Packers boys’ soccer team was on the road at Mayo Field in Rochester Thursday night for a Big 9 matchup against a squad that also went to the section finals last year, the Rochester Mayo Spartans.  First half goals from Jose Valladares and Tu Reh staked the Packers to a 2-0 lead, and keeper Casey Berg stopped all eight shots he faced as Austin blanked the Spartans 3-0.

Valladares tallied in the 11th minute to give Austin a 1-0 lead, and Reh added another goal in the 19th minute to increase the Packer lead to 2-0.  All-State selection Andres Garcia then notched a huge goal in the 57th minute to give Austin some insurance.
