The Austin Packers boys hockey team played host to the Red Wing Wingers in a Big 9 Conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Riverside Arena, and it was the Wingers unleashing a six-goal blitzkrieg in the first period on their way to a 15-3 win.

Red Wing led 3-0 in the first period when Garett Schaefer tallied on the power play for Austin at 7:48, with assists to Nick Dunlap and Caleb Ree.  The Wingers, though, would go on to tally three goals in a span of 1:10 to close out the period leading 6-1.  Red Wing went on to tally five more goals in the second period and added four more in the third, while Schaefer completed the hat trick for the Packers with two power play markers in the second period, the first on an assist from Dunlap at 4:56 and the other at 13:00 even with assists to Ree and Aidan Pepper.

Red Wing saw Gavin Lampe and Taite Luhman each tally six points in the game, with Lampe tallying four goals and Luhman five assists.  Isaac French scored two goals and added three assists for five points, and Matt Ramstad and Josh Rikli each chipped in four points.  Aidan Cole turned aside 18 of the 21 shots he faced to pick up the win for the 2-2 Wingers, while Sam Eyre made 37 saves while being barraged with 52 shots for the 0-3 Packers.
