The Austin Packers boys’ hockey team was looking for its first win of the season versus Faribault in a Big 9 Conference matchup Thursday evening at Riverside Arena, but the Falcons’ Zach Siegert tallied three goals for a hat trick, and Faribault led 4-0 at the end of one period on their way to an 8-1 win.

Cal Fox scored Austin’s only goal of the game at 4:17 of the second period to cut Faribault’s lead to 4-1, with assists to Garrett Schaefer and goaltender Bray Klapperick.  The Falcons, though, countered with goals by Jordan Nawrocki at 7:28 of the period and Zach Siegert at 10:11 to make the score 6-1 in Faribault’s favor at the end of two.  Siegert completed his hat trick at 1:30 of the third period and Keaton Ginter added another goal at 11:23 for the 8-1 final.

Bray Klapperick made 34 saves in facing 42 shots for Austin Thursday evening, while Jack Knutson played the last two periods in net for Faribault and was credited with the win, stopping 12 of the 13 shots he faced.
