Austin Packers boys’ golf team competes in Big 9 mid-season meet at Owatonna Thursday

The Austin Packers boys’ golf team traveled to the Owatonna Country Club Thursday for a Big 9 Conference mid-season meet hosted by the Huskies, and the Packers shot a team score of 387, which was good for 11th place.  Mankato West, who saw Leo Gellert take top medalist honors with a 69 won the meet by two strokes over second-place Northfield 314-316.  Rochester Century took third with a team total of 336, Rochester Mayo finished fourth a stroke back at 337, Mankato East was fifth at 353, Red Wing was sixth a strok back at 354, Albert Lea took seventh with a team total of 358, Faribault was eighth with a final team score of 361, host Owatonna was 9th at 367, then came Rochester  John Marshall in 10th at 370 followed by Austin and Winona was 12th at 414.

Ian Bundy shot the low round for the Packers with an 82, which was good for a four-way tie for 8th place.  Issac Anderson shot a 97 for Austin, Eli Krueger fired a 103 and Cale Tupy added a 105.

Austin returns to action at the Austin Country Club next Monday for a Big 9 triangular with Mankato East and Northfield, with the players scheduled to tee it up at 2:30 p.m.
