Austin Packers boys’ golf team competes at Section 1AAA meet in Lake City

The Austin Packers boys’ golf team traveled to The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City Tuesday for the first round of the Section 1AAA meet, and in the team competition, the Packers totaled a score of 354, which was good for 11th place. Four teams were within three shots of the lead after Day 1, with Lakeville North and Albert Lea tied for first at 305, followed by Northfield in third at 306 and Farmington in fourth at 308.

Individually for Austin, eighth-grader Elijah Krueger advanced to Day 2 with a score of 85, which was right at the cut line.  Freshman Cale Tupy carded an 87 for the Packers on Tuesday, while senior David Ide and sophomore Izaac Erickson both shot a 91.  Junior Max Bissen fired a 104, and freshman Carter Hovelsrud finished with a 108.

The section tournament wraps up today in Lake City, with the State Class AAA boys’ golf tournament coming up at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids June 14th and 15th.
