The Austin Packers boys basketball team was looking for win number seven in a row Saturday at the Hoops Challenge at the Rochester Civic Center against the Cadets of St. Thomas Academy, and in the process were looking to keep the Cadets winless for the 2019-2020 season.  The Packers sprinted out to a 44-17 halftime lead on their way to a 74-41 win.

The Packers had three players in double figures, led by Teyghan Hovland, who tallied 13 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block, Agwa Nywesh added 11 points, plus he led Austin in rebounds with five, assists with five and a team-high six of the Packers 18 steals, Moses Idris also scored 11 points and Okey Okey scored 9 points, as he hit a team-high three of the Packers’ 9 3-pointers in the win.

Austin saw 10 players score overall in raising their record to 9-1 overall on the season.  The Packers will try to make it eight wins in a row Tuesday night at home in a Big 9 Conference matchup with Red Wing, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
