Austin Packers boys basketball team felled by Byron 69-63 Thursday evening
The Austin Packers boys basketball teaam played their first non-conference game of the 2023-2024 season at Ove Berven Gym Thursday evening versus Section 1AAA rival Byron, and it was Will Brian and Max Dearborn both scoring 17 points apiece to help lead the Bears past the Packers 69-63.
The Bears led 32-28 at the half, and Peyton Ransom had a huge game for the Packers with 28 points, including three of Austin’s eight 3-pointers to go along with six rebounds, Isaac Osgood also drained three 3’s on his way to 14 points, plus he added five rebounds, Dakota Retterath totaled 12 points and three rebounds, Cole Hebrink tallied five points, and Jackson Clausman scored four points and added one rebound.
With the loss, the Packers are now 1-4 overall on the season, and the club returns to action Wednesday, December 27th versus a strong Mankato West Scarlets team, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. that evening.
