Austin Packers boys basketball downed by Rochester Century 65-61

The Austin Packers boys’ basketball team was looking to snap a two-game losing streak at Packer Gym Tuesday evening versus the Rochester Century Panthers in a Big 9 Conference matchup, but Shaun Wysocki led all scorers with 17 points, and Jayden Wysocki and Caleb Bancroft each added 14 points for Century as the Panthers edged the Packers 65-61 and swept the season series between the two clubs.
Cham Okey led Austin Tuesday evening with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists, Victor Idris tallied 15 points, a team-high six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots, Jack Lang added nine points and a team-high six steals, A’Triel Terry scored seven points off the Packer bench and added two rebounds, a steal and two blocked shots, Gage Manahan chipped in five points, a team-high six assists, four rebounds and a steal, Manny Guy tallied four points, Jared Lillemon provided three points and Kaden Murley scored two points for the Packers, who totaled 14 steals to 10 for Century, plus they forced 22 Panther turnovers in the game, but Austin was outrebounded 36-24 and although they shot six more free throws than Century (14-8), they hit only five of them in the loss.
With the loss, Austin is now 8-7 in the Big 9 Conference and 9-10 overall on the season. The Packers return to action Friday night at Packer Gym as part of a boys/girls doubleheader versus Albert Lea, with tip-off at 6:00 p.m. for the boys game, and at 7:30 p.m. across the hall at Ove Berven Gym for the girls game.
