Austin Packers boys’ and girls’ track and field teams host Big 9 triagular Tuesday

The Austin Packers boys’ and girls’ track and field teams hosted a Big 9 Conference triagular with Rochester Century and Rochester Mayo at the Wescott Athletic Complex Tuesday, and in the boys results, it was the Mayo Spartans taking first place with 74 points, Century was second with 57 points and Austin took third wiht 55 points.

High finishers for Austin included Thomas Fritz, who took first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.62 seconds, Brenan Winkels was first for the Packers in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.90, Kaden Murley was first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.82, while teammate Soren Villafane was third with a final time of 24.32 seconds and A’Triel Terry took first for Austin in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.29 seconds.

Joseph Garry was a first-place finisher for the Packers in the 1600 meter run with a final time of 4:50.81, Thomas Herrick was second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:09.87, and teammate Thomas Asmus was fourth with a time of 11:18.23, and Austin’s 4 x 100 meter relay team of Thomas Fritz, Joseph Walker, Joseph Ewing and A’Triel Terry were second Tuesday with a time of 43.46.  The 4 x 200 relay team of Jordan Salinas, Soren Villafane, Kaden Murley and Brendan Winkels was third with a time of 1:37.87, the 4 x 400 relay team of Murley, Villafane, Nicholas Asmus and A’Triel Terry was second with a time of 3:34.80 and the 4 x 800 team of Joseph Garry, Thomas Herrick, Kyle Mayer and Nicholas Asmus was second with a time of 9:04.64.

In the field events, Andrew Sayles was fourth for the Packers in the discus with a throw of 117-06, Joseph Walker was second in the long jump with an effort of 19 feet, 9.25 inches and teammate Joe Ewing was third with a jump of 19-6.50.  Samuel Eyre was third in the shot put with an effort of 42-07.00 and Andrew Sayles was fourth as he put the shot 40-03.00.  Doh Nay Htoo finished third in the triple jump at 36 feet, 4.25 inches and teammate Isaiah Cabeen was fourth with a jump of 36-3.75.

In the girls’ competition, Rochester Century took first place with a total of 89 team points, Austin was second with 52 points and Rochester Mayo was third with 45 points.

High finishers for the Packers girls’ track and field squad Tuesday included Sarah Wangen, who took first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.43 seconds, Chok Bol was fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.44, Olivia Walsh finished first in the 200 meter dash for Austin with a time of 27.27 and Nyaguay Mar took third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.37.

Marissa Shute was second for the Packers in the 1600 meter run Tuesday with a time of 5:33.99 and teammate Nadia Vaughn was fourth with a time of 5:38.83.  Shute was also first for Austin in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:14..93, and teammate Grace Vortherms was third with a final time of 13:33.89, while Olivia Walsh cleared 5 feet to win the high jump, and teammate Aggie McKichan was fourth with an effort of 4-04.00.  Sarah Wangen cleared 7-06.00 to take second in the pole vault, and teammate Emily Klapperich cleared seven feet to take third.

Laura Bekaert put the shot 32 feet, 11 inches to take second in the shot put for Austin Tuesday, and Olivia Walsh was third in the triple jump with an effort of 35-01.75.  In the relays, Austin’s 4 x 100 team of Kendall Gilster, Mary Omot, Sarah Wangen and Olivia Walsh were second with a time of 53.54 seconds, the 4 x 200 team of Gilster, Omot, Wangen and Rachel Engelstad were second with a final time of 1:57.66 and the 4 x 400 relay team of Cassidy Shute, Nyaguay Mar, Nadia Vaughn and Marissa Shute were second Tuesday with a time of 4:34.65.
