Austin Packers boys and girls cross-country teams compete at Lake City Invitational Tuesday

The Austin Packers boys and girls cross-country teams traveled to The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City Tuesday for the 9-team Lake City Invitational, and it was the boys team taking seventh with a score of 122 team points.  The host Tigers took first with 59 team points, followed by St. Charles back in second with 88 points, then it was Kasson-Mantorville in third, followed by Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Dover-Eyota, Austin, Wabasha-Kellogg and Hayfield.

Thomas Asmus broke into the top five for the Packers Tuesday with a time of 17:03, and teammate Jonas Hovland finished 14th with a final time of 18:20.  In the girls competition, Austin did not register a team score, but Marissa Shute finished first for the Packers with a time of 19:48.  Teammate Sydney Lewis was fifth overall with a time of 20:30, and Grace Votherms finished 14th Tuesday with a time of 22:04.  Lake City also took first team-wise in the girls competition with 35 points, followed by Stewartville in second with 42 points, and Plainview-Elgin-Millville was third with 95 points.

Both Austin cross-country teams will return to action Tuesday, September 26th as the Packers travel to Benson Park in North Mankato for a 10-team invitational which will also involve Mankato West, Albert Lea, Chanhassen, Chaska, Hutchinson, Mankato East, Rochester John Marshall, Rochester Mayo and St. Peter, with the action scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m. that afternoon.
