Austin Packers baseball falls to Mankato East 10-0 in 5 innings Tuesday

The Austin Packers baseball team was back in action at Dick Seltz Field Tuesday for their second meeting of the season with the Mankato East Cougars in a Big 9 Conference matchup, and unfortunately for the Packers, they ran into a buzzsaw in the personage of Cougars pitcher Nicholas Werk, who gave up only hit, struck out seven and walked only one in a 10-0, 5-inning Mankato East win.

Bryce Fischer had the only hit in the game for the Packers as the Cougars rapped out 13 hits and scored one in the second, three in the third and broke the game wide open with a six-run top of the fourth.

With the loss, Austin is now 3-4 overall on the season, and 3-3 in the conferece.  The Packers return to action at home on Friday, as they will play host to a doubleheader with Rochester John Marshall, with the first game of the twinbill a conference game.  First pitch for the first game will be at 4:00 p.m.
