Austin man sentenced to supervised probation on solicitation charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man caught in a sting operation that involved him soliciting a child for sex has been sentenced to supervised probation and a fine in Mower County District Court.  

24-year old Shadow Hawk Mallan has been sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation and a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of solicitation.

The Austin Police Department reported that after they learned that Mallan had been communicating with a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl, a detective created an online identity as a 12-year-old girl and began online chats with Mallan.

Police stated that Mallan sent the detective’s online persona multiple messages, indicating he was looking for a relationship and asking if he could take naked pictures of her, and finally asking to meet her for sex. Mallan was arrested after he showed up to meet the girl at Bandshell Park. Police indicated that during their interrogation of Mallan he admitted to being addicted to child pornography.
