Austin man sentenced to supervised probation on felony criminal sexual conduct charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct involving an underage girl has been sentenced to supervised probation, community work service and a fine in Mower County District Court.

21-year old Kristopher Lin Cook was sentenced Thursday to 25 years of supervised probation and ordered to perform 500 hours of community work service or pay a $5,000 fine.

Cook pleaded guilty to a felony charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct after he was accused of having sex with his 15-year-old victim multiple times. Investigators reported that at least one of the instances was when the victim was heavily intoxicated and that Cook at another time had choked his victim into submission.

As part of a plea agreement in the case, two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, an additional felony charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, and three felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed.
