Austin man sentenced to supervised probation on felony criminal sexual conduct charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who sexually abused a child under the age of 13 from October of 2010 to October of 2015 has been sentenced to supervised probation, a fine and community work service in Mower County District Court.   

49-year old Chad Bruce Sabanish was originally charged on March 25th, 2020 with four felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child 13 years of age or younger, and one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim 13 years of age or younger, actor more than 36 months older.  Sabanish pleaded guilty on July 7th, 2022 to the felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge and was sentenced Thursday to 15 years of supervised probation, a $1,000 fine, and 100 hours of community work service.  A 109-month prison sentence was stayed for 15 years if Sabanish complies with the 24 different conditions of his probation, and Sabanish was given credit for two years and 693 days already served.

Judge Kevin Siefken determined that Sabanish will be eligible for conditional release after 10 years of confinement.
