An Austin man involved in a burglary at an Austin pizza restaurant in May of 2018 has been sentenced to supervised probation in Mower County District Court.
27-year old Garrett Dean Lukes was sentenced Friday to five years of supervised probation and must also perform 40 hours of community work service. Lukes and 35-year old Brendan Charles Johnson of Brownsdale both pleaded guilty to a charge of 3rd degree burglary.
Austin Police reported that Johnson was a former employee of Steve’s Pizza in Austin and told Lukes how to get into the business and where to find the money. Officers stated that Lukes used a roof access hatch to enter the business in May 2018, then forced his way into an upstairs office and stole over $1,200.
Authorities reported that Lukes agreed to split the money with Johnson, who was previously sentenced to five years of probation and 40 hours of community service as well.
