An Austin man who kicked an Austin Police Officer after being arrested during a domestic incident at a residence in the 600 block of 8th Avenue Southwest in July of 2020 has been sentenced to supervised probation and community work service in Mower County District Court.

56-year old Kevin Roy Peterson was sentenced Thursday to three years of supervised probation and 40 hours of community work service for a felony charge of 4th degree assault of a peace officer, demonstrable bodily harm.  A one year and one day prison sentence was stayed for three years if Peterson complies with the terms of his probation, and Peterson was also sentenced to 30 days in jail for a misdemeanor domestic assault charge.  He was given credit for 30 days already served, and Peterson pleaded guilty to both charges in November of 2020.

A petty misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed with Peterson’s guilty pleas in the case.
