Austin man sentenced to prison time on three felony burglary charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man facing five felony charges in Mower County District Court after an attempted series of four burglaries in southwest Austin on the evening of March 14th of this year has been sentenced to prison time.

19-year old Elias James Wells was convicted and sentenced Wednesday to 57 months in prison for a felony charge of 1st degree burglary of an occupied dwelling.  Wells was also convicted and sentenced Wednesday to 108 months in prison for a felony charge of 1st degree burglary, possession of a dangerous weapon or explosive, and he was also convicted and sentenced to 45 months in prison for a felony charge of 1st degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, non-accomplice present.  Wells first pleaded guilty to the three felony charges on May 16th, and Judge Kevin Siefken determined that Wells will be able to serve all of the sentences concurrently.  Wells was also given credit for 114 days already served.

Felony charges of attempted 1st degree burglary of an occupied dwelling and for theft, taking or driving a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent in the case against Wells were dismissed with his guilty pleas.
