Austin man sentenced to prison time for violating probation on felony possession of pornographic work on a computer involving a minor charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man currently incarcerated at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault for violating his probation in September of 2022 after originally being convicted and sentenced to seven years of supervised probation on four felony counts of possession of pornographic work on a computer involving a minor ranging from April of 2017 to May of 2020 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.

38-year old Derek Charles Megraw was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 26 months in prison for a felony charge of failing to register while deemed a predatory offender, and Megraw was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to 26 months in prison for a felony charge of intentionally providing false information while deemed a predatory offender.  Both probation violations occurred on September 6th, 2022, and Megraw pleaded guilty to the two charges on April 17th of this year.  

Judge Kevin Siefken determined that Megraw may serve the two sentences concurrently, and four additional felony charges for intentionally providing false information while deemed a predatory offender in the case against Megraw were all dismissed with his guilty pleas.
