Austin man sentenced to lengthy terms of supervised probation and community work service for felony criminal sexual conduct charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who had sexual relations with a 15-year old girl in June of 2021 has been sentenced to lengthy terms of supervised probation and community work service in Mower County District Court.

22-year-old Kristopher Linn Cook was sentenced Friday to 25 years of supervised probation and 500 hours of community work service for a felony charge of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, personal injury, force or cocercion.  A 90-month prison sentence was stayed for 25 years if Cook complies with the 28 different terms of his probation, which include having no contact with the victim or victims, direct or indirect, and staying at least 500 feet from the victims’ home, work and school.  

Cook pleaded guilty to the charge on October 28th, 2021, and he was convicted the same day.  Six additional felony charges for 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, personal injury, force or coercion, 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, personal injury, victim mentally incapaciated, impaired or helpless, 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, fear of great bodily harm, 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct, force or coercion, 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct, victim mentally incapacitated, impaired or helpless and 3rd degree crimnial sexual conduct, victim under 16 years of age, actor more than 24 months older in the case against Cook were all dismissed with his guilty plea.
