Austin man pleads not guilty to six different charges in Mower County District Court
An Austin man arrested after a violent incident at Twin Towers Apartments in early August is pleading not guilty to six different charges against him in Mower County District Court.
Travis
24-year old Jordan Tashawn Travis has been charged with two felony counts of 1st degree burglary, a felony for kidnapping, 4th degree assault of a peace officer, obstructing the legal process, and 5th degree assault.
Austin Police reported that they were called to the Twin Towers just past 10:00 p.m. on the evening of August 4th and could hear a male and female screaming from an apartment near the laundry area. When an officer tried to enter the apartment, the door was shut on him.
Police stated that they eventually entered the apartment despite Travis, who was inside, trying to stop them and found an elderly female on the living room floor. The woman told officers that Travis, who she did not know, entered her apartment and then threw a fan, knocked down pictures, slammed the walls, grabbed her by the throat, pushed her to the floor, and told her she was being taken hostage.
Authorities stated that Travis fought with officers before being tasered. He allegedly told police he had consumed two pills of an undisclosed substance.
Travis is scheduled to stand trial in Mower County District Court beginning February 16, 2021.
