Austin man killed in two-vehicle accident early Friday morning just south of Blooming Prairie
An Austin man was killed in a two-vehicle accident early Friday morning on U.S. Highway 218 just south of Blooming Prairie.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2009 Toyota Camry being driven by 27-year old Keith Prescott Crape of Austin was southbound on Highway 218 at approximately 5:40 a.m. Friday morning about a mile south of Blooming Prairie in Westfield Township in Dodge County when he collided with a northbound 2008 GMC Acadia being driven by 44-year old Oscar Agustin Perez Morales of Austin. The State Patrol reported that after the collision, the vehicle driven by Crape started on fire.
Crape was killed in the accident, and the State Patrol indicated that he was not wearing his seat belt. Morales suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin. The State Patrol reported that Morales was wearing his seat belt, and they added that the road was covered in snow and ice at the time of the accident.
Sheriff’s Offices from Mower, Dodge and Steele Counties assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene.
