Austin man cited for hunting without a license and illegally hunting from a motor vehicle within city limits

The Austin Police Department is reminding residents that except for a few approved exceptions, it is illegal to hunt in the city limits of Austin, and that it is also illegal to discharge a BB or pellet gun in city limits after an Austin man was cited Tuesday morning.

Chief of Police Dave McKichan reported that a 27-year old Austin man was cited Tuesday morning for hunting without a license and illegally hunting from a motor vehicle after he shot a squirrel with a pellet gun from his vehicle.  McKichan stated that officers were able to locate the suspect, who admitted to the offense.  

Chief McKichan stated that except for a few approved exceptions, it is not legal to hunt in the city limits of Austin, nor is it legal to discharge a BB or pellet gun in the city limits.
