Austin man arrested Thursday afternoon in connection to two stolen motorcycles

An Austin man is facing charges in Mower County District Court after being arrested Thursday afternoon in connection to two stolen motorcycles.

Austin Police Captain Todd Clennon reported that detectives with the department received credible information at approximately 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon that two stolen motorcycles had been seen at a residence at 909 14th Ave. SE in Austin.  The detectives conducted a follow-up on the information and Clennon stated that a search warrant was then obtained for the address.  Upon executing the search warrant, Captain Clennon stated that the detectives located two Kawasaki dirt bike motorcycles that had been reported stolen from a residence in Austin on June 29th in a detached garage.  In addition to the stolen motorcycles, Clennon indicated that detectives also found drug paraphernalia, a 12 gauge shotgun and a 9 mm handgun in the residence.  The motorcycles were recovered and released to their owner, and Captain Clennon reported that the firearms and drug paraphernalia were also recovered as evidence for criminal charges. 

20-year old Kevin Jorge Barrera Briceno of Austin was arrested in connection to the stolen motorcycles, and he was placed in the Mower County jail pending formal charges of possession of stolen property and being an ineligible person in possession of firearms and ammunition.
