Austin Greyhounds roll by Winona 14-1 in seven innings Wednesday night
Alex Ciola belted a solo homer to spark a five-run third inning and Steve Serratore added a three-run blast to key a big fifth inning for the Austin Greyhounds as they pounded the Winona Chiefs in a Twin Rivers League game in Winona Wednesday night 14-1 in seven innings.
The Hounds rapped out 10 hits in the game and were led by Serratore, who was 2 for 3 with the three-run homer, plus he also scored three runs, Jordan Hart went 2 for 3 with a run knocked in, plus he also scored three runs, Ciola was 1 for 2 with his solo homer and wound up with two RBI’s and three runs scored, Miguel Castro was 2 for 5 for the Hounds with two runs knocked in and a run scored, Dan Bollingberge was 1 for 5 with a run scored, Angel Santiago went 1 for 1 with an RBI, Jack Dankert was 1 for 3 with a run knocked in, Eric Torres was 0 for 2 but tallied two RBI’s and two runs scored and Hunter Guyette was 0 for 4 with a run knocked in.
John Kirby continued to pitch well for Austin Wednesday night as he held Winona to one run on three hits in six innings of work while striking out six. Steve Serratore pitched a scoreless 7th inning to finish the win for the Hounds, who are now 3-2 in the Twin Rivers League.
Austin returns to action Sunday night at Marcusen Park against the Rochester Roadrunners, with first pitch at 6 p.m.
