Austin girls’ hockey wins in dramatic fashion at Riverside Arena Tuesday night versus Mankato West
Isikiyah Hemann’s even strength goal with only :14 second left on an assist from Mikiah Rumsey lifted the Austin Packers girls’ hockey team past Mankato West in dramatic fashion at Riverside Arena Tuesday night 3-2.
Jordyn McCormack gave the Packers a 2-0 lead with two first period goals, each assisted by Kate Holtz and Alexis Stich at 2:08 and 10:34. The Scarlets rallied with a 1st period tally by Molly Grundhoffer, and after a scoreless second period, Eliana Palesotti scored at 14:06 of the third to tie the game at two, until the tie was broken by Hemann at 16:46.
Shelby Davidson earned the win in the net for Austin, as she turned aside 32 of the 34 shots she faced. Sara Olsen was tagged with the loss for Mankato West, as she stopped 22 of the 25 shots she faced.
Austin is now 5-10 in the Big 9 Conference and 7-11 overall, and they will play game number three of a four-game homestand Friday night against the Fon du Lac Warbirds, with face-off at Packer Arena at 7:00 p.m.
