Austin cross-country teams host 6-team invitational Tuesday
The Austin Packers cross-country teams played host to a six-team invitational Tuesday at Meadow Greens Golf Course, and in the boys competition, Winona was first with 30 points, followed by Lake City in second with 44 points. Albert Lea was third with 52 points, followed by Stewartville in fourth with 127 points, Austin was fifth with 132 points and Byron was sixth with 144 team points.
Alex Petrik ran the best time for the Packers as he was 24th with a time of 18:00.3. Joseph Garry was 25th with a time of 18:01.1, Jacob Venenga was 27th with a finishing time of 18:11.6, Kyle Mayer was 31st at 18:22.2, Thomas Herrick was 32nd with a time of 18:22.4 and Nickolas Whalen was 33rd with a time of 18:25.6.
For Pacelli, Jayden Lewis was 28th with a time of 18:16.8, and for Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Southland, Cohen Wiste was 39th with a time of 18:45.
In the girls competition Tuesday, Stewartville just edged out Lake City for first place by scoring 61 points to 62 for the Tigers. Winona was third with 69 points, followed by Austin and Byron in a tie for fourth with 112 points, Pacelli was sixth with 132 points, Albert Lea was seventh with 151 team points and GMLOS was eighth with 185 points.
Austin saw two runners crack the top ten with Nadia Vaughn taking sixth with a time of 20:03.1 and Marissa Shute was ninth with a time of 20:29.7. Cassidy Shute was 28th for the Packers with a time of 22:01.4 and Ruby Kvam was 31st with a final time of 22:01.4.
The Pacelli Shamrocks also had two runners in the top ten with Rory Bickler taking fourth with a time of 19:54.8 and Lexi Lewis was 10th with a time of 20:31.6. Kirsten Koopal was 23rd for Pacelli with a time of 21:17.9.
For GMLOS, Aubrie Schneider was 29th with a time of 22:04.4, while Katy Ottman was 35th with a time of 22:24.2.
