State lawmakers are heading into a likely special session optimistic that a deal can be reached on a statewide public works project bill.  KAUS News spoke with Austin City Administrator Craig Clark, who stated that he’s hopeful that $19 million in funding for a wastewater treatment facility improvement project for the city, which was included in the House’s bonding bill but not in the Senate’s will be part of a final bonding bill agreed to by all sides…

The bill stalled in the regular session after failing to receive the required majority votes in the House and Senate. House Republicans have said a bonding bill is not possible unless Governor Walz relinquishes his COVID-19 emergency powers. As of now, that appears likely to remain a sticking point in a possible special session.
