Austin City Council approves six different street improvement projects for 2022 at first meeting of the New Year
The Austin City Council approved feasibility reports and approved public hearings for six different street improvement projects coming up for the city in 2022 at their first regularly scheduled meeting for the New Year Monday evening at the Austin City Council Chambers. In a work session following the meeting, the council discussed assessment rates for street reconstruction projects for 2022 with Public Works Director Steven Lang, and Mayor Steve King stated during the “Meet the Mayor” segment on “Wright Here, Right Now” that the council will look to raise the current assessment rate for property owners for street and sidewalk improvements by approximately 7%….
Street improvement projects coming up for the city of Austin in 2022 include 21st Avenue NE, 9th and 10th Streets NW, 3rd Avenue NE, 3rd Street NE, a mill and overlay project on 5th Avenue and 16th Street SW, and a reclamation project on 7th Avenue SW, 11th Avenue SW and 23rd Street SW. Public hearings on the various projects will be held at the Austin City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 22nd.
