Austin Bruins blanked by Bismark Bobcats 4-0 Saturday evening

Coming of an exciting 4-3 shootout win over the Bismark Bobcats at Riverside Arena Friday evening, the Austin Bruins were looking for a weekend sweep of their NAHL Central Division foe Saturday evening, but it was Bobcats goaltender Klayton Knapp turning aside all 31 shots he faced to help Bismark blank the Bruins by a score of 4-0.

Four different players scored for the Bobcats, who outshot the Bruins 38-31 for the game.  Bruins netminder Trent Wiemken made 34 saves in facing 38 shots, and Austin was called for five penalties in the game for a total of 31 minutes, while Bismark was whistled for four penalties for eight minutes.  Two of Bismark’s four goals in the game came via the power play, while the Bruins were 0 for 3.

With the weekend split, Austin is now 18-13-1-0-1 on the season for 37 points and a tie for third place in the Central Division with St. Cloud.  Both teams trail second-place Bismark, as the Bobcats are now 19-12-0-2-3 for 40 points.

The Bruins will be back in action at Riverside Arena this coming Friday and Saturday as they play host to Aberdeen, with face-off both nights scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
