Austin 17U baseball team victorious by a score of 6-4 at Faribault Thursday evening

Kody Blum and Bray Klapperick led an 11-hit attack for the Austin 17U baseball team Thursday night in a Southern Minny League game in Faribault as a 3-run top of the third proved to be the difference in a 6-4 win.

Klapperick was 3 for 4 in the game with a pair of runs knocked in, plus he earned the win on the mound for Austin as well.  Blum was also 3 for 4 with an RBI for Austin, who led 3-0 with three runs in the top of the first.  Faribault came back to score single runs in the first and second innings to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Austin tallied three more in the top of the third to increase their lead to 6-2.  Faribault tried to rally with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but they would get no closer as Austin held on for the win.

Jake Truckenmiller and Mac Nelson each added hits in the game for Austin, as did Blake Smith, who was 1 for 3 with an RBI double.  Nick Robertson was also 1 for 3 in the contest for Austin.

Austin is now 2-2 in the Southern Minny League, and they return to action Saturday morning at Marcusen Park for a doubleheader with Byron.  Austin Manager Zach Huntley stated that because of the Heat Advisory Saturday, the game times have been moved up to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
