In area volleyball action from Tuesday evening, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms were in New Richland to take on the Panthers of NRHEG in the Gopher Conference, and it was the Panthers who were able to rally from a two sets to one deficit to win 21-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-11.
Heather Pirkl led the Blossom offense with 24 set assists, plus she added 18 digs and 2 ace serve. Micalyn Trihus piled up 24 kills for the match, plus she chipped in with 2 aces, 2 ace blocks and 2 digs. Julia Worke tallied 13 kills, plus she added an ace serve, 2 blocks and led Blooming Prairie with 26 digs. Anna Kittleson put down 8 kills for the Blossoms, plus she added 2 blocks, 4 digs and 1 set assist and Megan Oswald tallied 6 kills, 3 ace blocks and 2 digs. Maggie Bruns put up 15 set assists for Blooming Prairie and added 2 ace serves, 14 digs and 1 kill while Maren Forystek tallied 24 digs defensviely and added an ace serve.
The Blossoms are now 1-3 in Gopher Conference play and 8-10 overall on the season. Blooming Prairie is back in action Thursday evening at Hayfield.
Speaking of the Vikings, they fell to Triton at home Tuesday evening in a non-conference match in four sets 20-25, 27-25, 25-23 and 26-24.
Hayfield was led in hitting by Jenna Jacobsen, who put down 14 kills, plus she added 12 digs, one ace block and an a set assist to her stat line. Rachel Pack added 9 kills for the Vikings, while Caitlyn Hendrickson chipped in with 7 and Maryx Young tallied 5 kills to go with 39 set assists, 23 digs, two ace blocks and one ace serve. Gigi Galdamez also put down 5 kills and Cela Carney added 31 digs defensivley and also put up 3 set assists.
Hayfield is now 7-6 overall and 2-1 in Gopher Conference play.
In Lyle, the Athletics of Lyle/Pacelli played host to Glenville/Emmons during Homecoming week during a six match homestand, and it was LP picking up their first win of the season with a 25-10, 25-20 and 25-11 triumph.
Olivia Christianson led the way for the Athletics with 14 kills, 6 blocks and 3 ace serves, while Vanessa Cotter, Rachel Nelsen, Mikayla Ingersoll and Whitney Walkup each added 2 kills apiece. Abbey Neve ran the Lyle/Pacelli offense with 22 set assists, plus she added a kill and led the squad with 4 ace serves.
LP is now 1-8 in the SEC and 1-13 overall. They are back into action Thursday at home versus Grand Meadow.
