Area volleyball roundup from Monday evening

The top two volleyball teams in the West Division of the Southeast Conference squared off in Grand Meadow Monday evening as the first-place Superlarks played host to second-place LeRoy/Ostrander, and it was the Superlarks dropping the first set 25-20, but rallying back to take the next three in succession 25-14, 25-17 and 25-19.

Lauren Queensland led the ‘Larks in kills Monday evening with 11, plus she added 14 digs defensively and an ace block, Kendyl Queensland tallied nine kills, 16 digs and six ace serves, which was tops for the club, Isabelle Fretty led Grand Meadow in set assists with 32, plus she also posted 18 digs, four kills and three ace serves, Sydney Cotton led the Superlarks in digs with 22, and she also served up two aces, Lexy Foster tallied seven kills, six blocks and one ace serve, Heidi Weiss chipped in six kills, four digs and two ace blocks, and Rebecca Hoffman had two kills and eight digs in the win.

For LeRoy/Ostrander, Jordan Runde led all hitters in the match in kills Monday evening with 20, plus she also tallied 25 digs and an ace serve, Benita Nolt was also in double figures in kills with 10, and she led the Cardinals in digs Monday night with 26, and in ace blocks with four, Jenna Olson put up 35 set assists, tops for the club, and she also posted nine digs defensively, Brooke Jasper tallied three kills and 13 digs, Kaci McKenzie added two kills and Maddi Huntley and Kaylee Huff contributed 19 and 16 digs, respectively.

With the win, Grand Meadow is now 13-6 overall and 8-2 in conference play, while LeRoy/Ostrander is now 8-12 overall and 6-5 in the Southeast Conference.  The Superlarks are back in action at home Thursday night versus Schaeffer Academy, while LeRoy/Ostrander will entertain Houston Thursday evening.

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics played host to Glenville/Emmons in the second of a four-match homestand at All Saints Arena at Pacelli Monday evening, and it was the visiting Wolverines coming away with a 3-1 win by scores of 23-25, 25-9, 25-17 and 25-21.

Lilly VaDeer led LP in kills Monday evening with seven, plus she also tallied two digs and one ace serve, Autumn Drennan led the Athletics in set assists with 13, in ace serves with two and digs with three and Audrey Wilde tallied four kills and one set assist.

With the loss, Lyle/Pacelli falls to 0-11 in the Southeast Conference and 0-15 overall, and the Athletics return to action at home Thursday night versus Mabel-Canton, the No. 5 team in the state in the last Class A rankings, with the varsity action set to start at 7:15 p.m.

The Southland Rebels were on the road at Rushford Monday evening for a non-conference match with the Rushford-Peterson Trojans, and it was the Trojans coming away with a 3-0 sweep 25-10, 25-16 and 25-9.

Katelyn McCabe led the Rebels in kills with four, plus she added an ace serve, Breeley Galle and Maren Wehrenberg each tallied three kills, with Wehrenberg also leading Southland in set assists with eight, and she also tallied an ace serve, Bria Nelsen put up seven set assists and added 11 digs and an ace serve, Ava Payne led the Rebels in set assists with 15 and Neveah Shaw chipped in an ace block in the loss.

With the loss, Southland is now 3-7 overall on the season, and the Rebels are right back into action this (Tuesday) evening versus the Kingsland Knights in the Southeast Conference, with the varsity action scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
