Area playoff football roundup from Tuesday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms football team, the No. 1 team in the state in the last Class AA poll were looking to keep their record unblemished for the season in a matchup with eighth-seeded Medford Tuesday evening, and it was quarterback Drew Kittleson throwing for 188 yards and four touchdowns, plus a rushing touchdown for good measure, and Cole Wangen added 83 rushing yards of his own and another score as the Blossoms defeated the Tigers for the second time in a week 43-0.

Colin Jordinson caught two of Kittleson’s touchdown passes in the game for the Blossoms, who are now 9-0 on the season, and they will host No. 4 seed St. Clair/Loyola Saturday in the Section 2AA semi-finals in Blooming Prairie at 7:00 p.m.  The Spartans downed fifth-seeded NRHEG Tuesday evening 13-7.

In the Section 1 9-man quarterfinals, the No. 2 seeded Grand Meadow Superlarks played host to the No. 7 seeded Houston Hurricanes, and it was the Larks reeling off their eighth win in a row as running back Dusty Copley rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Taylor Glynn threw for 162 yards and two more scores in a 42-18 win.  The Superlarks will host third-seeded LeRoy/Ostrander Saturday evening in the Section 1 9-man semi-finals, as the Cardinals were sparked by Tanner Olson’s 144 rushing yards and four scores in a 57-6 rout of No. 6 seed Mabel/Canton.  You’ll hear the game from Grand Meadow Saturday evening on AM 1480 KAUS,  with the pre-game show coming your way at 6:45 p.m., and kickoff at 7:00 p.m.  A reminder that you can also listen online worldwide anytime on our webpage at myaustinminnesota.com, and also on the I Heart Radio and Radio.com apps.

In other Section 1 9-man quarterfinal games Tuesday evening, No. 4 seeded Southland outdueled No. 5 seed Spring Grove 19-12.  The Rebels will be on the road Saturday evening at top-seeded Lanesboro, as the Burros downed No. 8 seed Lyle/Pacelli Tuesday evening 53-0.
