The Hayfield Vikings girls basketball team hosted their annual holiday tournament over the weekend, and the Vikings used 22 points from Rachel Pack and 12 points from Lila Gronseth to defeat the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics 68-41.

Lyle/Pacelli was also in action at the tournament Friday evening against Kenyon-Wanamingo, and despite Olivia Christenson’s 30 points, nine rebounds and 10 steals, the Athletics were downed by the Knights 55-38.

The Athletics are now 2-8 overall on the season, and they are back into action Thursday at home versus Goodhue.

In the tournament’s championship game Saturday, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms took on Kenyon-Wanamingo, and a three-pointer from Julia Worke with two seconds left lifted the Blossoms past the Knights 47-46.

Worke finished with 10 points in the game, while Maggie Bruns tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Bobbie Bruns chipped in nine points in the win for the 6-1 Blossoms, who defeated the host Vikings Friday night 40-38 on a basket by Allison Krohnberg with just four seconds left.

The Blossoms return to action Thursday night in Chatfield.
