Area boys’ basketball roundup from Tuesday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys’ basketball team was looking for win number four in a row at home Tuesday evening against Gopher Conference rival NRHEG, and for the second time in as many nights, the Blossoms were able to battle their way to a close win 63-60.

Drew Kittleson led Blooming Prairie in scoring with 21 points, while Mitchell Fiebiger was also in double figures in scoring for the Blossoms with 12 points, ten of those in the second half.  Colin Jordinson tallied 10 points, including one of BP’s five 3-pointers, Alex Miller added eight points and Luke Larkoski chipped in five points, all in the first half on a 3-pointer and two free throws for Blooming Prairie, who improved their record to 5-6 in the Gopher Conference and 6-7 overall with the win.

The Blossoms will travel to Hayfield to take on the Vikings Thursday evening, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.

In Lyle, the Athletics of Lyle/Pacelli continued a busy stretch in their schedule by playing their third game in four days against a tough Spring Grove team who came into Lyle Tuesday night having lost only once this season and riding a seven-game winning streak.  LP was up for the challenge, however, as Buay Koak poured in 31 points and pulled in three rebounds to help lead the Athletics to a 51-38 win.

Cole Walter was the only other Athletic in double figures with 12 points, Sam Nelson added four points and five rebounds, Zach Bollingberg added two points and Jed Nelson also scored two points and pulled in seven rebounds in the win for Lyle/Pacelli, who won their fifth in a row and their 11th in their past 12 games.

The Athletics return to action Friday night in Rochester versus Schaeffer Academy in the Southeast Conferene, with a varsity start time of 7:15 p.m.
