Area boys basketball roundup from Thursday evening
The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics played host to the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms in a non-conference tilt Thursday night at All Saints Arena, and in a hard-fought game in front of a packed house between two contenders in Section 1A, the Blossoms were able to come out on top 57-49.
For Blooming Prairie, Kaden Thomas helped to lead the way with 18 points, while Gabe Hagen scored nine. Parker Vaith and Isaac Ille each tallied eight points, and Zach Weber and Karson Vigeland each contributed five. For LP, Jed Nelson and Buay Koak each scored 15 points, Cole Walter tallied nine points and Mach Diang added eight for the Athletics, who fall to 11-5 overall and suffered only their second loss in their last 13 games. The Blossoms raised their record to 11-1 overall, and they are right back into action tonight at home against Bethlehem Academy,with varsity tip-off at 7:15. Lyle/Pacelli will play the second game in a five-game homestand Monday night against Schaeffer Academy, with varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
The Southland Rebels were on the road Thursday night in the Three Rivers Conference against the Plainview/Elgin/Millville Bulldogs, and it was PEM defending their home court Thursday with a 71-55 win.
Daniel Boe and Eli Wolff were each in double figures for the Rebels with 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Josh Mullenbach added six points. Wayde Pederson and Christian Luthe each added three points for Southland, who drops to 4-5 in the conference and 7-7 overall with the loss. The Rebels kick off a four-game homestand Monday night against Dover/Eyota, with the varsity tap at 7:30 p.m.
