The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms, the No. 10 team in the state in Class A were on the road Thursday night in Mapleton against Maple River, and Karson Viegland led three Blossoms in double figures in points with 19 as Blooming Prairie pulled away in the second half to pick up win number six in a row 67-39.

Besides Viegland’s 19 points, Gabe Hagen was also in double figures with 13, as was Kaden Thomas with 11.  Drew Kittelson added eight points in the winning efford while Zach Weber and Zach Archer each added five for the Blossoms, who are now 6-1 in the Gopher Conference and 13-1 overall on the season.  Blooming Prairie is back into action tonight in New Richland against NRHEG, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.

In LeRoy, the Cardinals of LeRoy/Ostrander played host to Mabel/Canton in a Southeast Conference matchup, and Riley Olson led the way in scoring with 27 points as the Cardinals downed the Cougars to snap a two-game losing streak 67-48.

The Cardinals blitzed the Cougars 46-20 in the first half, and besides Olson’s 27 points, Chase Johnson was also in double figures in scoring with 13 points, Levi Royston chipped in nine points and Tanner Olson tallied eight for LeRoy/Ostrander, who are now 6-6 in conference play and 8-11 overall.  The Cardinals will be on the road tonight in Randolph against the Rockets, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.

In Hayfield, the Vikings entertained the first-place team in the Gopher Conference and the No. 5 team in the state in Class A, the Buccaneers of Waterville/Elysian/Morristown, and the Bucs Grant McBroom was 7-13 from behind the three-point arc to finish with 41 points, plus he also added seven rebounds, one assist and two steals to lead WEM past the Vikings 63-47.

Hayfield was led in scoring by Ethan Slaathaug, who tallied 19 points, while teammate Luke Dudycha added 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist and three blocked shots.  Patrick Towey scored nine points for the Vikings while Isaac Matti chipped in with eight for Hayfield, who fell to 7-3 in conference play and 13-4 overall.  The Vikings are back in action Saturday at The Showcase in Kasson against the Minneota Vikings, with tip-off set for 1:00 p.m.
