An Apple Valley man who punched a woman in the face and threatened to kill her while doing so during a domestic assault at a residence in the 200 block of 1st St. SE in Austin in July of 2020 has been sentenced to supervised probation in Mower County District Court.

37-year old Christopher David Mitchell was sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of threats of violence.  A 21-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Mitchell complies with the terms of his probation, and he first pleaded guilty to the charge on August 6th, 2020.

Mitchell was convicted on the charge the same day, and felony charges of 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and 5th degree assault in the case were dismissed with Mitchell’s guilty plea.
