Albert Lea Schools pausing in-person learing at high school due to COVID-19

Albert Lea Area Schools are pausing in-person learning at the high school after reporting new COVID-19 cases.

The school district announced that 14 new positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed within the district.

Twelve of the cases are from Albert Lea High School, and nine of those cases are related to an event that was not associated with the school district. The school district reported that most of the positive cases had no contact with students.

District officials stated that they did not know who the individuals were interacting with in the wider community.

Two of the COVID-19 cases are from Southwest Middle School.  According to the announcement, the district will pause in-person learning for one week at Albert Lea High School.
