Albert Lea man sentenced to prison time on drug possession, felon in possession of tear gas charges in Mower County District Court

An Albert Lea man facing several charges in Mower County District Court, including three felonies stemming from incidents that occurred in November of 2020 and March of 2021 has been sentenced to prison time.

31-year old Jamie John Kujak, who is currently incarcerated at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Moose Lake was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 21 months in prison for a felony 5th degree drug possession charge stemming from an incident that took place on November 3rd, 2020. Kujak was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to 26 months in prison for a felony charge of being a violent felon in possession of tear gas, and he was also convicted and sentenced to 257 days in jail for a gross misdemeanor charge of DWI, operating a motor vehicle with the body containing any amount of Schedule I or II drugs after a traffic stop on March 30th, 2021.  Kujak was given credit for 257 days already served, and he pleaded guilty to the three charges on April 1st of this year.

Judge Jeffery Kritzer determined that Kujak will be able to serve the prison sentences concurrently, and a felony 5th degree drug possession charge, plus a misdemeanor charge for driving after revocation stemming from the March 30th, 2021 incident in Mower County were dismissed with Kukjak’s guilty pleas.in the case.
