The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team was on the road to Janesville Friday night for a Gopher Conference matchup with the Bulldogs of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, and in a very hard fought battle, the Blossoms were able to control the tempo for most of the game to down the Bulldogs 49-34.
Blooming Prairie led by only three points at the half at 25-22, but as they did against Medford Tuesday evening, the Blossoms were able to pull away in the second half to secure the win. BP was led by Shawntee Snyder and Claire Schwarz, who both tallied 15 points apiece, with Schwarz draining two of the Blossoms’ four 3-pointers in the game, Addison Doocy scored seven points, Macy Lembke swished a pair of 3’s for six points, Ella Smith chipped in four points, and Sienna Fyksen scored two points in the win.
With the victory, the Blossoms are now 4-1 overall on the season, and they are 4-0 in the Gopher Conference. Blooming Prairie returns to action at home next Monday evening versus Lyle/Pacelli in a non-conference matchup, and you’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show getting underway at 7:00 p.m, and the tip-off at 7:15 p.m. that evening.
