Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team falls to Winona Thursday evening 95.5-87.5

The Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team took on Winona in a virtual Big 9 Conference dual meet at Bud Higgins Pool Thursday evening, and it was the Winhawks earning a 95.5-87.5 win.

High finishers for Austin included the 200 medley relay team of Madelynn Murley, Alivia Hemry, Ingrid Dolan-Peterson and Mackenzie Carter, who took second with a time of 2:08.17 and the team of Anna Kossman, Sydney Tobak, Kaylee Butts and Lucy Lagervall was third with a time of 2:10.41.  Abbie Boysen was third for the Packers in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:21.00, and Sydney Tobak and Ingrid Dolan-Peterson were second and third, respectivley, in the 200 individual medley with times of 2:39.10 and 2:42.78.

Madelynn Murley and Mackenzie Carter were second and third for Austin in the 50 freestyle with times of 27.43 and 28.12, and in 1-meter diving, Alayna Kennedy and Rachel Engelstad were 1-2  for the Packers, as Kennedy was first with a score of 186.30 and Engelstad was second with a total of 186.15.  Lucy Lagervall took third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:03.08, and Mackenzie Carter tied for second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:23.71.

Austin’s 200 freestyle relay team of Kaylee Butts, Alivia Hemry, Sydney Tobak and Lucy Lagervall took second Thursday night with a time of 1:55.02, and Madelynn Murley was first for the Packers in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.01,  while teammate Anna Kossman was third with a time of 1:13.13.  Kaylee Butts took second for Austin in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:19.70, and Sydney Tobak was third with a final time of 1:22.16, and Austin’s 400 freestyle relay team of Lucy Lagervall, Jaycie Pollak, Madelynn Murley and Anna Kossman was first with a time of 4:19.43, and the team of Abbie Boysen, Claire Lagervoll, Mackenzie Carter and Ingrid Dolan-Peterson took second with a time of 4:20.26.

Austin returns to action Saturday at Bud Higgins Pool as they are scheduled to play host to Big 9 rivals Rochester Century, Rochester Mayo and Rochester John Marshall, with the action set to start at 12:00 p.m.
