2,059 free COVID-19 tests administered at Mower County Fairgrounds over the weekend

Due to the recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in Mower County, the Minnesota Department of Health hosted free COVID-19 testing Saturday and Sunday at the Mower County Fairgrounds.

Pre-registration was encouraged, but not necessary.  Those that were looking to be tested did not have to be experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 to receive a test, and they did not need to be a Mower County resident to be tested.

Health officials reported that a total of 1,171 tests were completed at the fairgrounds Saturday, and 888 were administered on Sunday for a weekend total of 2,059.  Pam Kellogg, Mower County Community Health Division Manager stated that those that test negative will receive a text or an email within 72 hours.  Kellogg added that if the test is positive, it will take somewhere from 48 to 72 hours, and she added that anyone having symptoms of coronavirus to stay in isolation until they get those test results back.
