2020 special legislative session adjourns with no agreements on major issues

The 2020 special session at the State Capitol adjourned early last Saturday morning without agreement on policing bills, a bonding bill or COVID-19 aid.  State District 27B Representative Jeanne Poppe, DFL’er from Austin spoke with KAUS and stated that no deadline had to be set for the end of the session, and she added that a lack of compromise coupled with Senate Republicans carrying through on their promise to end the session either late last Friday night or early Saturday morning led to a disappointing finish…

There has been no indication as to when Governor Walz may call the legislature back into special session, but they must meet again no later than July 12th to determine if the Governor can maintain his emergency powers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
