‘A Night With Our Poets’ winners named Tuesday night

The annual “A Night With Our Poets” was held Tuesday night at the Hormel Historic Home.

“A Night With Our Poets” serves as the finale for the annual Eberhart Poetry Contest. This year, the contest received 149 entries, 23 of which were chosen as finalists who read their poems at this week’s event.

Every finalist received an award certificate and a book of poetry (sponsored by the Friends of the Library), and the winning poet from each building received a cash award (sponsored by an endowment provided by the family of Richard Eberhart).

The winners were:

• Woodson Kindergarten Center—Madelynn Core (K)

• Banfield Elementary School—Charlotte Bliese (grade 2)

• Neveln Elementary School—Izaak Belden (grade 4)

• Southgate Elementary School—Jaely Solberg (grade 3)

• Sumner Elementary School—Enar Zaki (grade 3)

• I.J. Holton Intermediate School—Ariana Keefe (grade 6)

• Ellis Middle School—Cora Feist (grade 7)

• Austin High School—Eleanor Hinchcliffe (grade 11)
