1st U.S. District Congressman Jim Hagedorn discloses diagnosis of stage 4 kidney cancer

1st District Minnesota Congressman Jim Hagedorn disclosed Wednesday that he was diagnosed with stage-four kidney cancer about a year ago and has received treatment at Rochester’s Mayo Clinic.  The 57-year-old Hagedorn says in a video on his website: 

Hagedorn’s doctor says he has “responded well to immunotherapy, which has been key to his recovery.  He is doing well.” Hagedorn stated that he received the diagnosis two months after marrying state Republican Party Chair Jennifer Carnahan, and just six weeks into his term as congressman. Hagedorn says he’s a candidate for re-election.
