One person is dead following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 63 near Spring Valley Thursday night at 8:43. According to the Minnesota State Patrol a 1994 Honda Civic was pulled over to the shoulder of southbound 63 at milepost 10 with its flashers on waiting to turn left onto a farm road. A 1997 Peterbilt Conventional truck approached and noticing the Civic slowed down. As the Peterbilt was about to pass the Civic pulled out and tried to make a left turn across the lanes. The Peterbilt broadsided the Civic on the driver’s door. The Civic came to a rest in a ditch on the northbound side of Highway 63.

The driver of the Civic, 25-year old William E. Schmoll of Spring Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt, a 58-year old Kensington man, was uninjured.
