An Austin man is in jail for allegedly assaulting his mother. According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger officers went to a home in the 400 block of 11th Street Northwest Wednesday morning at 6:45. A 45-year old woman told officers she had been arguing with her sons because they took her vehicle without permission when one of them struck her in the face.
One officer says he went into a bedroom and noticed one of the sons, 21-year old Jesse Brandl, attempting to escape through a ground-floor window. The other son, 19-year old Jeremy Brandl, apparently already climbed through the window and fled the scene. As officers questioned the mother Jesse Brandl reportedly kept interrupting and refused officers' demands to go into another room. He was arrested for obstructing the legal process and taken to the Mower County Jail where he was held until sober.
The mother's boyfriend accompanied her to Mayo Clinic Health System Austin for treatment. The police report states Jeremy Brandl returned to the home while his mother was at the hospital. Officers arrested Brandl and took him to jail. Officers say both sons had been drinking. Charges against Jeremy Brandl will depend on the severity of his mother's injuries.
